GROW children sponsored by 4GROW
As families become economically independent through income generating activities, better education for vulnerable children becomes an exciting possibility.
To offset childcare costs, 4GROW now supports the creation of children’s gardens on leased land. This provides school children an opportunity to learn agricultural skills and to contribute to planting, weeding and harvesting their food while they are on holiday. In addition, the older boarding school students will have 2 acres leased for agribusiness. This will be a source of pocket money, transport, books, medical costs and clothing when produce is sold. This sustainable project will ensure that in future these costs are met in Uganda.
4GROW co-sponsors salaries for 2 full time teachers of 60-67 four and five-year-old children, including a nutrition program. The GROW Living and Learning Centre not only serves GROW nursery children, but accommodates community and women’s meetings as well.

I'm a teacher working with 5 year-old children at GROW Nursery School.
I teach the baby class of 4 year-old children.
The Adult Literacy Program began in 2014. Due to a very busy season of training and implementation for a new cassava growing initiative for food security, the program was temporarily suspended in early 2018. The literacy program encourages women to learn to read and write their names and simple sentences.
